Christmas cards ‘24
These are the first designs I created for my online Etsy shop, Studio Poon.
Although I’ve never been a huge Christmas celebrator, I cherish the time spent with family and friends, enjoying good food and conversation. With that in mind, I wanted to design Christmas cards that weren’t overtly "Christmassy." Two of the cards feature landscapes—one with a mountain, moon, and Christmas tree, and another with deer and a small tree on a hill. The third design is the most traditional, featuring Christmas ornaments on a star and snowflake background. The backs of the cards have plenty of space for sharing your best wishes, as well as room for a stamp and an address.
The cards are inspired by lino printing, where you cut out areas you don’t want inked. For this reason, I used just one color—dark blue, inspired by the deep winter nights—and left the rest of the card white to highlight the simplicity of the design.
